A prominent Europe-headquartered Telecom & Networking major was setting up an in-house Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center of Excellence (COE) within their India Global Capability Center (GCC) to cater to its diverse business lines globally. Its India center was expected to play a critical role in the global network of COEs. However, the center found it significantly challenging to access the right talent. So, it was looking to acqui-hire the right talent and set up a specialized team in AI.
Zinnov strategically partnered with the Telecom & Networking major’s India center to identify start-ups that had specialized AI teams and could be acqui-hired by the GCC. The Zinnov team devised a company-specific “Acqui-hiring Opportunity Index” to map the Indian product start-up ecosystem and identify potential targets with company-specific criteria around talent, experience, product portfolio, etc.
Zinnov conducted rigorous diligence to ensure the right start-ups were brought to the table and those that aligned well with the Telecom & Networking giant’s AI strategy. Zinnov then facilitated multiple interviews between global AI leaders within the Telecom & Networking major and the start-up’s key personnel, including coaching founders, investors, and the advisors of the start-up to arrive at transactable deal terms.
The Telecom & Networking major successfully acqui-hired a 4-member product start-up, integrating its talent into the core team at its India COE. This strategic talent acquisition translated into an immediate infusion of a strategic operating team with subject matter expertise, innovative mindset, and the drive to deliver on the AI strategy from the India GCC.
